You'll be amazed at what lives in the Hudson River estuary. See enormous fish swimming in huge tanks, listen for the thumping sound made by drum fish and check out other local inhabitants. Go eye to eye with puffer fish, terrapins and other salt marsh dwellers as you learn the importance of this ecosystem.

Hands-on activities allow visitors to test their dexterity at a sophisticated Virtual Crane simulator as they try to load and unload cargo. Move water and sediment in a 20-foot long model of the Hudson River. Create dams and levees, and learn how sedimentation, erosion, and pollution controls affect the river. Slip on a lab coat in the working laboratory and conduct your own mini-experiments in ecology. Weather permitting, step onto the deck for extraordinary views of the Hudson River, Liberty State Park, and lower Manhattan.

The Atlantic City Aquarium is home to over 100 varieties of marine species, with 30,000 gallons of seawater. They have spectacular views and three levels of exhibits provide magical and memorable family fun. You will experience oceanic thrills and chills throughout your visit. Enjoy a visit with Groman, the Giant Loggerhead Turtle and exotic species in the Coral Reef as well as seahorses, moon jellies, moray eel, terrapin, bearded dragons, clownfish & anemones. They even have a few tropical rainforest and ocean oddities tanks where you will find interesting creatures and plants. For a more hands-on experience, interact with additional sea creatures in one of the aquarium's touch tanks.

Marine Mammal Stranding Center Fun Aquariums Atlantic County NJ See the 1000-Gallon Outdoor Observation Tank!
The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is a unique and educational marine biology experience. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is a private non-profit organization that aims to rescue and rehabilitate stranded marine life. Since the Center's founding in 1978, staff and volunteers have responded to over 4500 calls for stranded whales, dolphins, seals, and sea turtles that have washed ashore on New Jersey beaches. These animals are brought back to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center for rehabilitation. When ready, they are released back into the ocean.

Take a tour of the Center, and see the 1000-gallon outdoor observation tank! Afterwards, visit the Sea Life Educational Center and Gift Shop to see 25 life-sized replicas of marine mammals and fish, as well a "Please Touch" display of marine mammal bones. Pequest Trout Hatchery Fun Aquariums Warren County NJ Hands-on and educational!
Anyone with an interest in fish, wildlife or the outdoors will enjoy a visit to Pequest Trout Hatchery. There are so many informative and exciting wildlife features to see at this hatchery. The barrier-free facility includes a 15-minute video showing the trout rearing operation. A self-guided tour allows visitors to see where the trout are raised. There is also an exhibit hall containing live fish, as well as a display of mounted New Jersey wildlife specimens. The Pequest Trout Hatchery also features the Natural Resource Education Center, which allows visitors to learn about wildlife conservation.

The interactions are fun and educational for children. Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the hiking trails, picnic areas and free literature available. Organized group programs may be scheduled and can include an actual fishing experience at the "Fishing Education Pond." This is an ideal location for both family and student trips.

The Ocean Institute is part of the Community Development Division of Brookdale Community College. The Institute has served over 10,000 students and teachers each year. There are so many informative and exciting programs and topics. The Ocean Institute provides educational programs focusing on marine science field trips, oceanographic boat trips, teacher workshops, pollution, wetlands protection and recreation, watersheds, coastal problems, geology, botany and weather.

The Ocean Institute Adventure Package features an exploration of the marine wildlife in the bay, shell hunting along the coastline and a trip to the Sandy Hook Lighthouse and Fort Hancock Batteries. The Ocean Institute offers programs for students K-12, as well as college-level lectures, making it the perfect marine life experience for all ages.
