About the Point Pleasant Beach Boardwalk in NJ
Point Pleasant Beach is only about 7 miles from Seaside Heights. The Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk (frequently known as Jenkinson's Boardwalk) is similar to the boardwalk found in Seaside Heights, but is a bit more layed back and a little more preppy. The promenade extends from the Manasquan Inlet in the northern end of the borough to the border with Bay Head in the south. Right in the middle is the Jenkinson's Amusements/Jenkinson's Boardwalk area which has many rides, games, carnival food, miniature golf, fun houses, souvenir shops, and the Jenkinson's Aquarium. The Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk is the first "real" boardwalk (with rides, food, games, entertainment) on the Jersey Shore coming from the north and attracts many weekenders from North Jersey and New York City.
The municipal parking lot is metered and a quarter buys you 20 minutes. There are also a few private pay lots that charge from $4.00 to $12.00 depending on the crowds and the time of year. You will find metered parking on Ocean Avenue and a few adjacent streets. You can find free parking if you come early and are willing to walk a few blocks.
The southern end of the Boardwalk is where most of the gaming action is. The Northern end is a bit more subdued. Jenkinson's Aquarium is located on the north end of the Boardwalk along with a cool fun house. Martell's Tiki Bar and Jenkinson's Nightclub are the main attractions for the party people on this end too. If you walk further North, you will pass many beautiful shore homes with boardwalk front property.
