ASBURY PARK BOARDWALK
New Jersey Boardwalk Guide

We'll show you the New Jersey Shore like you have never seen it before!

Asbury Park - Old Casino NJ

This is a shot of the old casino building in Asbury Park New Jersey which will be demolished to make way for a huge restoration project. Graffiti has made its way on to the structure over the years.

Boardwalk Looking Toward Asbury Park from Ocean Grove NJ. The boardwalk in Asbury Park is in the process of revitalization and has recently been connected to the neighboring town of Ocean Grove.

Construction of New Condos

It certainly is exciting to see the re-birth of one of New Jersey's most classic shore towns. Be assured that by 2009 Asbury Park will flourish once more. Pictured above is a construction site of some brand new condos going up in Asbury Park NJ.

Wonder Bar Asbury Park NJ

The Wonder bar in Asbury Park dons the face (named Tillie) that we all remember when we were young while visiting Asbury Park. The "old" Wonder Bar, once bragged that they were "The longest and Largest bar in the world" neither of which was true.

The Stone Pony Asbury Park NJ

This is probably the most famous venue in all of New Jersey. This is where Bruce Springsteen used to light up the hot summer nights near the beach in Asbury Park NJ. The Stone Pony still flourishes as it showcases many local rock bands. Bruce still pops in once in a while!

Asbury Park Boardwalk shot in 2007
Although there is not much to show yet, this is a picture of some of the shops along the Boardwalk leading up to the Asbury Park Convention Center. Some of the shops and amusements are open and others are building. The complete restoration should be done sometime in 2009.

Asbury park Convention Hall NJ

The 3600 seat Convention Hall has hosted some of the world's most famous entertainers including Frank Sinatra, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder and of course, our very own Bruce Springsteen. The The Boardwalk is still very much alive with music of all genres for all to enjoy as the Convention hall still has many acts and they still put on their world famous summer concert series.

Beautiful Asbury Park Boardwalk

This hauntingly beautiful photo of the Asbury park Boardwalk is in black and white and it signifies the hopeful resurgence of this beautiful community. Check back here in the Future to see new color photos when Asbury Park makes its full comeback! For now you can come and enjoy clean beaches, free parking and a refreshed boardwalk filled with new restaurants and specialty shops.

About the Asbury Park Boardwalk
 in NJ

The boardwalk in Asbury Park is in the process of revitalization and has recently been connected to the neighboring town of Ocean Grove, New Jersey.
Asbury Park boasts a one mile long Boardwalk which is located 60 miles south of New York City, and about 90 minutes north of Atlantic City. Asbury Park is the birth home of Bruce Springsteen, Danny Devito and Jack Nicholson. Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, Asbury Park is in the middle of a major redevelopment project right now. The Queen of the northern Jersey Shore is about to return to its former place of glory! Once known as the "Crown Jewel" of the Jersey Shore, Asbury Park is really going to try to make a comeback, and should be near finished by 2009. Try to catch it while the old buildings still exist, like “Madame Marie’s” brightly painted fortune telling booth made famous by Bruce Springsteen. The old Casino Pier is closed. It once contained a skating rink, roller derby, and amusements. The Casino has been a backdrop for the “Soprano’s” TV show and in the movie “City by the Sea.” In the next few years, the city promises shops, arcades, and goodie stands. 2007 brings new excitement as the boardwalk undergoes refurbishing. Several entrepreneurs have already opened new shops on the boardwalk, taking advantage of rent concessions to move into the old pavilions lining the boardwalk. On the first Saturday of every month, Asbury Park's downtown art galleries, home design studios, restaurants, antique shops, and clothing boutiques remain open throughout the evening, serving Hors d’œuvres and offering entertainment, to showcase the city's residential and commercial resurgence.

Other things to do in Asbury Park NJ

Stone Pony
Asbury Park's nightlife is somewhat rock oriented. The Stone Pony is probably the most famous venue in Asbury park. It is the place which helped jump start the careers off Bruce Springsteen and Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.

The Saint
The Saint (formerly The Clover Club), On Main Avenue is a small club that showcases local acts and some well known established performers.

The Deep
A classic bar renovated for 2007. Watch for a new Latin theme venue.

The Fast Lane
The Fast Lane is the club where Jon Bon Jovi pretty much got his start.

Directly next door to The Fast Lane is Asbury Lanes, which is a really cool vintage bowling alley that was revamped by local artists and musicians to create one of the latest performance spaces on the east coast. It has been the setting of anything from national music acts, burlesque shows, hotrod shows, art shows and performance art, and there is still bowling.
