See the 1000-Gallon Outdoor Observation Tank! The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is a unique and educational marine biology experience. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is a private non-profit organization that aims to rescue and rehabilitate stranded marine life. Since the Center's founding in 1978, staff and volunteers have responded to over 4500 calls for stranded whales, dolphins, seals, and sea turtles that have washed ashore on New Jersey beaches.
These animals are brought back to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center for rehabilitation. When ready, they are released back into the ocean.
Take a tour of the Center, and see the 1000-gallon outdoor observation tank! Afterward, visit the Sea Life Educational Center and Gift Shop to see 25 life-sized replicas of marine mammals and fish, as well a "Please Touch" display of marine mammal bones. The gift area is one of the sources of funding for the Center to maintain its operations.
