Hackensack Riverkeeper is dedicated to preserving the beautiful Hackensack River Watershed region and the surrounding ecosystem. Hackensack Riverkeeper is comprised of trustees, full-time staff and volunteers who aim to raise awareness of pollution and other threats to the Hackensack River. This organization provides nature programming, events and activities for the public throughout the year.
Hackensack Riverkeeper offers year-round nature walks and birding tours to unique habitats. Places they’ve conducted guided tours include The Celery Farm Natural Area, The Mill Creek Wetlands, Richard W. DeKorte Park, Sawmill Creek Wildlife Management area, Mehrhof Park and State Line Lookout. These two-hour birding tours are available upon request.
