The YMCA of Greater Bergen County offers an overnight camp in Northeast NJ for grades 3 – 10. For over 80 years Camp Michikamau has offered a high quality traditional overnight camp for youth and teens in New Jersey. The camp program provides a balance of structured, cabin group and choice activities. In the first week of a camp session a fixed schedule is handed out allowing campers to try every activity in the camp area. This encourages children to try activities they would not have otherwise chosen. The second week is known as “choice week” which allows campers to take part in only activities they are interested in. Each evening, after dinner, campers enjoy a camp activity such as casino night, dance, scavenger hunt, gold rush, talent show or camp fire. The wooden cabins house a maximum of ten campers along with two counselors. Campers are assigned cabin groups based on their age. All bathrooms all have hot running water, private individual shower stalls and flushing toilets. Children build confidence and gain independence at the YMCA of Greater Bergen County’s sleepaway camp!
