Glassworks offers an open ended array of options for you to create what ever you can imagine (limited by kiln size). Projects begin at $10 and range from buttons and pendants to vases and trays. Glassworks welcomes walk-ins during open studio hours and is pleased to host events for large groups at other times. Hot Sand 1200 Ocean Avenue Asbury Park Boardwalk, Asbury Park, NJ 732-927-5475 The Hot Sand Studio, the Jersey Shore's first public-access hot glass studio, is dedicated to promoting art glass through education, demonstration, and fun activities for all ages. The Hot Sand Studio, a fully-functioning hot glass studio, is suitable for several glass-making techniques: Blowing creates pieces that are, at some stage, hollow. (Takes a lot of practice.) - Casting is pouring molten glass into a mold. (Takes a lot of planning.) - Fusing is layering pieces of flat glass then melting them together. (Takes a lot of patience.) - Slumping is heating glass just enough that it bends over a mold to make a shape. (Think specialty sinks.) Walk-in activities are available Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 - 6:30. No appointment necessary, just com to the Boardwalk!
