This fun day happens every year on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. The course is 10.6 miles long and takes about 2 1/2 hours. The race begins at 10:00 at the canal house on Blackwells Mills Road and ends at the historic Van Wickle house on Eastern Avenue in Franklin. You can visit the canal any day of the year and ride a bike, jog or walk along the canal on the mule path. You can also rent a canoe at a private rental place in Griggstown. Canoes cost $10 for the first hour and $5 for each additional hour or $35 for the whole day.

Quick Chek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning
Readington NJ
The Quick Chek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning is held every year in July at the Solberg Airport in Readington NJ. There is live musical entertainment, children's entertainment, food and drink, interactive exhibits and many different attractions. There is usually about 125 balloons filling the sky. It is the largest and most popular ballooning event in the United States. Twice a day there is an old-time air show and group parachute jump. Don't miss the spectacular fireworks display. At night there is a "light bulb" show when all the balloons inflate and light up casting an eerie light in the night sky to thrill the crowds. For the littlest ones there is a special area with a petting zoo and many  games. For those who want to ride the balloons, you have to reserve early because they go fast. See the enormous Colgate clock located on The Jersey City Bay at 105 Hudson St. It boasts a fifty foot dial. The minute hand weighs 2,200 pounds and moves 23 inches every minute! Take the ferry to see it!

If you fell in love with "Bridges of Madison County", you don't have to travel all the way to Iowa to see a covered bridge. There is one right here in New Jersey. It is the Green Sergeant's Bridge in Sergeantsville, Hunterdon County. It is considered one of New Jerseys 10 most beautiful places by New Jersey monthly magazine. The bridge is located near Flemington NJ on Rosemont-Sergeantsville Road CR (604) about a mile west of Sergeantsville NJ.

There is a small animal zoo located within Thompson Park featuring Deer, goats, ducks, roosters and other small caged birds. The park also has 4 Jungle Gyms for the kiddies. There are 4 tennis courts, a volleyball court, 4 basketball courts, a nice handball court and an 18 hole disc golf course. There are also three nature trails and plenty of picnic areas with grills on a beautiful lake. The park has a great big hill which is very popular in the winter season for awesome sled rides.
