Young children are often cautioned not to touch things when they’re out and about.  However, that rule goes out the window at the New Jersey Children’s Museum in Paramus, where kids are encouraged to touch EVERYTHING around them!  This fun filled museum caters to toddlers, pre-schoolers and early learners, and contains over thirty different play areas in a 15,000 square foot area.  Children will love playing ”grown up” in the grocery store area that is sized just for them, and pretend to be “ballerinas” in the dance area, complete with little tutus they can wear.

Kids are excited to climb aboard a real fire engine and helicopter or see themselves on a monitor when they pretend to be news anchors and weather people on TV. Among the many different educational hands on play themes, is a really cool hospital setting, where youngsters can get a better idea of how x-rays work and where they can find out a bit about disabilities that some people have.

So much to do!

Other areas allow children to explore a prehistoric cave, make believe they’re in the Wild West, or even in a fantasy castle. Busy little hands can also build and play in the architecture and construction area as well as have fun in the sandbox and with the sand funnel. As you can imagine, this is only a tiny peek at all of the fun activities available. The best way to find out more is to bring your family to the New Jersey Children’s Museum. The kids will have a ball, and adults will enjoy the experience as well!

Birthday Parties at the New Jersey Children's Museum

For a new adventure, you might enjoy having your child’s birthday party at this facility.  Themes such as “Fire Truck Party”, “Wild About Animals Party”, “Princess Party”, “Dinosaur Party” and “Train Party” are available.  The Birthday Room will be yours to use for an hour, and then the party-goers will have the opportunity to explore the museum.  Please check out the website for further details, or contact the museum via phone (201-262-2638) and ask for the Birthday Party brochure.

Day Care and school groups (first grade and under) are welcome, but reservations are necessary and adequate supervision is imperative (bring one adult supervisor per four children).  Call 201-262-2638, Ext. 10, to schedule your group visit.
