The Edwin B. Forsythe Bird Refuge, a wildlife sanctuary in Oceanville, New Jersey will be hosting a bird walk on October 3rd where participants can enjoy a leisurely walk looking for various birds. Park Ranger Don Freiday will guide guests on this two hour, one mile walk, guiding everyone through the refuge and teaching them about the animals spotted. He will be able to answer people’s questions, demonstrate the proper techniques needed in order to be a skilled bird watcher and educate people on both New Jersey native and non-native birds spotted. The bird walk is free of charge, is approximately two hours (8-10 am) and the starting point will be the entrance to the visitors center.

The New Jersey Zombie Walk will be held on Saturday, October 4th from 10 am until 10 pm. Last year’s walk was record breaking, showing the country that New Jersey is alive, or shall we say, undead? This year we are looking to break more records. The theme for the 2014 Zombie Walk is Zombies vs. Cancer, with proceeds going towards brain cancer research.

Kicking off “Grey Matters,” a campaign that looks to spread awareness about brain cancer, we call upon our loyal, undead, New Jersey community. Everyone is welcome to come out and walk, or rather stumble, through the streets of Asbury Park. There will be plenty of fun to be had at our walk, undead festival, the bazzar for bizarre and countless vendors featuring all things horror! The campaign will benefit Camp Jinka, a free summer camp program for children living with brain cancer. 28th Annual Julia Norton Babson Lecture Montclair Art MuseumJoin MAM in welcoming artist/quilter Yvonne Wells and historian/artist Dr. Nell Painter as they discuss how quilts have held an important and cherished place in American culture, particularly in the American South. Dialogue will encompass the civil rights movement, historic context of quilts in the rural environment as well as the stories behind individual artist's quilts. Although materials and techniques of quilt making may be common, quilts- as process, as art, and as image—embody the very fabric of our country. Quilts by Yvonne Wells are included in MAM's current exhibition, From Heart to Hand: African-American Quilts from the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.

Macculloch Hall outdoor events in nj “Growing in the Garden” is a hands-on art program for 3 - 5 year olds and their caregivers using natural resources found in the Museum’s garden. Tuesday, October 21st 1:15 – 2 pm or 3:45 – 4:30 pm.

3 – 5 year olds and their caregivers can hear a story and walk in the garden to collect autumn leaves in all their shapes, sizes, and colors. After studying leaf symmetry, children will use drawings to create a leaf collage to take home.

Salem Oak Vineyard The Haunted Vineyard Halloween Events in NJ Salem Oak Vineyards will be hosting a Haunted Vineyard event on October 31st and November 1st. The haunted vineyard is an abandoned winery in a deserted town where ghosts come out to play, wolves sing their melody to the moon and zombies roam the streets, but only at night. During the day all is well and everything seems normal, but once day turns to night, strange and mysterious things happen at the winery. The home to three witches and a goblin, the Haunted Vineyard is an oddly interesting place and you are invited to walk through the grounds, coming across frightening surprises.

Come celebrate with the spirits who call the vineyard their home, celebrate their past with them and discover their secrets, secrets that are only revealed during Halloween events.
